High Schoolers making a difference 

Advisor: Jyoti Sharma

Dr. Jyoti Sharma is the founding advisor of the Girl Talk Millburn chapter. She has a PhD in Electrical Engineering and 20 years of experience in the Wireless Industry. She works at Verizon and is the Chair of Women in Engineering, and the IEEE North NJ chapter. Jyoti is a proponent of STEM education especially for girls. Her hobbies include running, reading and cooking healthy recipes. She started a Coding Club in Millburn. She loves being a part of Girl Talk Millburn because she is able to see progress and inspiration shared between the girls at each and every meeting.

Annika Sharma

Annika is a senior at Millburn High School and some of her hobbies include running on the cross country team, drawing and painting, baking, and playing the piano. Her favorite food is pizza and her favorite dessert is anything chocolate! One day, she hopes to become the CEO of her own health and fitness company to promote living a healthy lifestyle. Annika's favorite thing about Girl Talk is being able to work with her friends to make a difference in the lives of young girls in her community.

Kate Kost

Kate is a senior at Millburn High School. She runs for both the MHS track and cross country teams. She loves hanging out with her friends, reading, writing, or watching movies. She also loves being at the beach more than anything else! When she is older, Kate wants to travel to different places around the world, and eventually pursue a career in journalism. She decided to become a Girl Talk leader because she wanted to inspire younger girls to be confident in themselves and give back to the community.

Daniela Van Roon

Daniela is currently a sophomore at Millburn High School. She is on the cross country team and enjoys playing the guitar and being with her friends after school! She hopes to be apart of this chapter to make a difference in the community and be a mentor to young girls during their formative years. 

Sydney Clawans

Sydney is a senior at MHS who loves running, playing ukulele, and baking. She is on the Millburn High School Cross Country team, and her favorite food is mashed potatoes! One day, she would like to go into a career related to life and biology, and she would love to help animals. She is a Girl Talk leader because she wants to educate other girls and work with them to make a difference! 

Joanna Atwater

I am a senior who goes to Millburn High School. I love playing tennis, horseback riding, hanging out with friends, and watching Netflix. My favorite subjects to study are within the fields of Science and my favorite type of food are baked goods. This has been my first year involved with Girl Talk, and I have loved interacting with the girls so far. I am excited to become their leader and get to know them even better. 

Joanne Kim

Joanne is a junior at Millburn High School. She loves running and hanging out with friends. Some of her hobbies include ballet, art, hiking, and travelling. She was a Girl Talk Leader in the 2016-17 year and loved the idea of teaching younger girls how to maneuver their way through middle school with strong role models at their side.  

Ruby Pollack

Ruby is a sophomore who loves cooking, playing field hockey and swimming. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, traveling around the world and reading. This is her second year as a Girl Talk Leader and is very excited about meeting and forming connections with the younger girls. 

Anika Shirvaikar

Anika is a sophomore at Millburn High School. Some of her favorite things to do include dancing, playing or listening to music and baking - she makes a killer banana bread! She also enjoys art and hopes to be an architect or production designer one day. She looks forward to making friends with the girls and helping them!
